SharePoint 2010: Enabling Session State for SharePoint Web applications

To enable session state, follow the following steps.

1. Make sure ASP.NET State Service is up and running.
2. Add to of the web.config.
3. Set enableSessionState value to "true" in section.
4. Open IIS Manager, goto Modules section then select "Add Managed Module" and select "System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateModule. Make sure the web application is correctly for which Session needs to be enabled.



If you do not have the drop down filled with the above module, you can goto web.config -> system.web section -> modules and paste the following two lines
